How We Are Six
(in the Gaza Strip)

When I was one,
I had just begun.
When I was two,
Our windows blew though.
When I was three,
A tank frightened me.
When I was four,
A bomb made me sore.
When I was five,
I was just alive.
But now I am six,
I'm as clever as clever.
So I think I’m stuck here
now and forever.
